A couple local schools are threatened with shut-down because of their performance in relation to state mandated testing standards. The schools are vital not only in their proximity to the communities they serve, but also as part of a whole system that will become overloaded and strained if the schools shut down, from teachers and bus drivers to students and families.

To stave off the school closings, members from the local community, teachers, principals, and folks who simply care are all gathering once a month to meet, talk, and work together to do what needs to be done to keep the schools open. They differ in ethnicity, socio-economic background, gender, and age.

This song is about these people and their coming together.
